Happy World Book Day
It's been a very busy time, with Cate Douglas invited to read Poppy's Tail in five schools this week—in London, Surrey and Devon. Not only does she read her book, but takes along a Poppy's Tail activity pack and a suitcase of tails! 390 children waggled their tails with Cate on World Book Day alone and teacher feedback has been fantastic. Any schools who would like an author visit, free of charge, please email firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange.
“The staff and children in Reception and Year One really enjoyed ‘Poppy’s Tail’ and I am very thankful that you took the time to share it with all of us.”
Rebecca Leviston, Head of Lower School, Ravenscourt Park Prep School, London
“Thank you so much. It was great of you to come in and share your book, the children absolutely loved it!” Morwenna Davies, Head of Lower School,Kew Green Prep School, London
“From start to finish, all the children were captivated by ‘Poppy’s Tail’. Both boys and girls engaged with it and enjoyed trying on different tails and sharing why they had chosen them. The whole experience ignited the children’s imagination and got them enthused by reading. Thank you for making our World Book Day so memorable.”
Krystyna Flanc, South Farnham Educational Trust, Surrey
"Cate Douglas enthused and engaged the children as she told the tale of Poppy. The children joined in with the story-telling, able to predict due to the rhyming text. Cate had brought along lots of tails from the story for the children to try on, and they were delighted to become the 'tail character'. She was kind enough to submit to being 'interviewed' by the KS1 and Reception children as part of their topic about authors and illustrators; speaking with enthusiasm about writing stories, and the personal rewards writing can bring. Thank you for coming to visit us!"
